Home.ch is a joint venture between PubliGroup and Swisscom Directories. Both companies have more than 100 years of experience in advertising and stand for rentability and stability. The users of Home.ch don't just receive the most relevant property offers, but also relevant information about the properties. Home.ch has the largest selection of properties in Switzerland and is the only platform that also offers an overview of current building applications.

Project

The attributes of properties from differently structured sources and platforms needed to be compiled into one comprehensive property site. Astina took on the challenge of analysing these contents and refining them semantically. This task involved mapping, data mining from free text, consolidating the data and avoiding duplication.

Solution

The data is imported, compared, consolidated and saved in the desired export format. The import process involves sorting the data into hundreds of resources, to later import them simultaneously into the database. After the import, the data is extracted and structured again in a normal format. During the consolidation, duplicates are identified and corrected. Finally, before exporting the data once again in the desired format, the data is filtered according to attributes and whether it was fulltext or sourced, as this filtering can be based on different data mining algorithms. This process allows for the most flexible preparation of datasets.
